Conservation in the Kakamega Forest Ecosystem depends on the communities who live alongside it, and on the supporters who make the work possible. There are several ways to take part.

Bank transfer is the only donation method for now, in Kenya Shillings, US Dollars or Euros.
Donations fund the work described across this site: tree planting and forest restoration, the Community Forest Association agreements, the Lishe Bora school feeding programme now in development, and conservation research. Donations are made by bank transfer, in Kenya Shillings, US Dollars or Euros.
K-BIAN does not currently have an M-Pesa Paybill or Till number. Automated M-Pesa payment is planned for a later phase.

Research, conservation and institutional partnerships, still taking shape.
K-BIAN is currently exploring partnerships with the Kenya Wildlife Service, the Kenya Forest Service, and researchers and research institutions, with focus areas including species conservation, habitat conservation, management of invasive species, climate change, human–wildlife conflict, conservation policy and planning, social science research, and data collection and analysis.
K-BIAN also intends to contribute to research into forest ecosystems and the impacts of human activities, and to participate in collecting and analysing data on forest resources and conservation activities to inform decision-making.
K-BIAN aims to improve enrolment, retention, completion and transition rates in schools near the forest, while instilling environmental conservation awareness among learners and households.

For communities bordering the forest, the Community Outreach and Education Programme works through Community Forest Associations (CFAs). K-BIAN has signed Memoranda of Understanding with four:
Strengthening the capacity of CFAs and other community members in effective participatory forest management is the entry point for community involvement, and opens up opportunities to improve livelihoods through ecotourism enterprises, cultural tourism and community projects. A community member near one of these forests interested in joining can call or WhatsApp +254 721 997 953.
K-BIAN does not currently operate a separate membership scheme; involvement is through these CFAs, volunteering, an internship, or a direct enquiry.
